Про хваты на пилоне – About grips in pole dance

Hello! Me name is Slan SilverBullet, from Pole Extreme & Advanced Tricks group And now we will talk about grips in poledance Progress is in a process, people creating new tricks and combos, and using new rare grips. Let’s remember grips for upper hand in flags and their names
The first one: TWISTED GRIP
The second one: SPLIT GRIP
Third: CUP GRIP (Chinese grip). The thumb here is with other fingers on the same side You can ask — what name of this grip, where thumb in against other fingers? It have no name. This grip is useless.
It’s just a uncomphortable variation of cup grip. On thick poles you can see, that people using cup grip with whole wrist, rotated it a little bit. It’s a variation too. It gives bigger contact with hand, from pinky finger to arm.
I prefer using terms «low grop» for split grip, and «upper grip» for cup grip. If you imagine that pole is bar, it will make sence. This grips names are using in gimbarr in Russia. And it’s easy to understand, about what grip you talking about. On elbow ayesha: 2 grips. Elbow grip and elbow+wrist variation. Useful for different elements. Now let’s talk about lower hand in flags. The same grips. Split grip as usual, sometimes cup grip, and now in combos people using twisted grip. It’s really hard. On elbow: 2 positions. Elbow normal and elbow inverse positions
Let’s talk about 3 other grips. First one will be CLAW GRIP (tape grip in Russia). Using all 5 fingers. Warning! Don’t use it in a middle spot. I calling it «chicken fury» or «ninja turtle». It’s wrong and dangerous variation. ‘Cos it’s grip with less contact with pole. And you can’t be able to use it on thick poles. Claw grip is very good to combos. It’s turning to split grip in backovers and spins.
Second one: BICEPS HOLD. It came from chinese pole discipline. We don’t use fingers here. Full contact with pole from pinky finger to biceps. On steel pole it’s more dangerous than claw grip.
Rare grip in classic poledance, but very good for drops and dynamic combos. Third grip: AQUA. Name came frome gimbarr discipline. It’s split grip with rotated whrist to the limit, and finally we hold our body on thumb finger. It was really rare grip in past. But it useful to combos now. And sometimes hard to explain hand position to people. It’s gimbarr grip and technically all the same. Physically, it’s the same as twisted grip, but in another way. But you can understand how shoulders works with this grip. Learning skyline planche, for example. This grip gives more space for arm and shoulder.
Claw and split grips are transform to aqua in combos, like transition to flag from claw grip, and from nivelada (back flag) to flag.
As you see, all grips are useful. The point in names not just NAMES It’s easy to explain new tricks to friends and others. And — more you know, more you can. Use your fantasy and create new transitions!
Good luck and new tricks for you! Bye!
